Take Action

“We were at a standstill. We couldn’t do anything til it was taken down. It had to be cleared away before we could make the next step.”

George Ladner, Pearlington, MS

After Hurricane Katrina, as with most disasters, people around the world wanted to help. They donated money, supplies and opened their homes to refugees. People went to the afflicted areas with various organizations to volunteer their time.

While many were placing blame and pointing out holes in relief plans, others took action. They went to afflicted areas to join the relief and recovery effort. Many went weith established organizations while others went on their own and initiative and drew on their own resources. Often, friends, family and communities responded with support and supplies to help those who went.

Burners Without Borders, the group featured in this documentary film, is available to encourage and support efforts that you or your community find worth doing. Get something started or connect with others who have already started efforts in you area or in other parts of the world.
